The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to helping Tasmania’s most vulnerable, said Minister for Human Services Jacquie Petrusma. With our economy growing, confidence returning and the budget heading back to surplus, we can now invest the dividends of our hard work into the core services of government, such as improving access to affordable housing for Tasmanians. It was my pleasure today to visit, along with the Premier Will Hodgman, the site of 16 nearly completed homes that will be the first to be completed under the Better Housing Futures (BHF) program. These homes are the first stage of a rolling capital program in the area that will see Centacare Evolve Housing (CEH) build 233 new homes in Bridgewater, Gagebrook and Herdsman’s Cove, with 57 to be used for social housing for those on the public housing waiting list and the remainder to be used for affordable housing.
