The Australian Institute of Building (AIB) today welcomed the inaugural edition of Housing Australia’s Future, an in-depth analysis of Australia’s housing requirements, published yesterday by the Housing Industry Association (HIA). AIB acknowledges the contribution that HIA have made to researching this field and informing key stakeholders and the public on this important issue.
“With this report considering future building requirements under different population and real income growth scenarios for Australia, and for each state and territory, it allows policy makers to make informed decisions regarding the residential building industry”, said Mr Robert Hunt, AIB Chief Executive Officer.
“These future building requirements will include educational requirements for the future construction workforce, which is a key concern for the AIB.”
“However, it will also include the amount of land release and infrastructure required in the future.”
“We applaud the HIA for taking the initiative on this report, and the work and resources that have gone into the publication.”
“We encourage relevant policy-makers and all key stakeholders to request a copy of this report, and to read and take note of its contents.”
“We look forward to working with HIA and other key stakeholders on how best to manage the future educational requirements for the construction industry in Australia”, Mr Hunt stated.
