BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION REGULATORY REFORMS “WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU”?

Presented by
Bronwyn Wier & the AIB ACT Chapter

The AIB ACT Chapter is delighted to host widely respected building sector authority, Bronwyn Weir, for its first Professional Development Presentation for 2021. Bronwyn will provide an update on regulatory reforms under way across Australia following the release of her report “Building Confidence” co-authored with Professor Shergold. She will then join a panel to discuss the reform process with industry participants.

Bronwyn is the co-author of the Building Confidence Report. Her appointment with Professor Shergold to undertake this work reflects her reputation as a legal advisor on building regulations for more than 20 years.

Bronwyn is now a member of the Expert Advisory Group which is advising on the work of the Australian Building Codes Board to assist the states and territories to implement the Building Confidence Report.

Bronwyn is an inaugural Board member of the recently established International Building Quality Centre at University of Canberra. Other related work includes advising on the Vic Government’s response to combustible cladding and on security of payment reforms for the Queensland government.

In addition to the building sector, Bronwyn has advised regulators in the education sector including early childhood and vocational education, the health sector, primary industries and food safety. Bronwyn also conducts reviews of regulatory systems and processes and advises on risk-based governance for regulatory bodies.
